Question
I am a Army recruiter.  I put a prior service Air Force airman into the Army recently.  He was station in Iraq for six months while in the Air Force.  He was attached to the Army while being deployed.  My question is:  Would he be authorized to wear the unit patch of the Army unit he was attached to now that he is in the Army?  If so what regulation can I find this information? Thank you for your help.

Answer
Hi Stephen,

Afraid not.

AFI 36-2903, Figure 2-11, note #3 specically states that Air Force personnel may only wear Army unit patches, only while attached to the unit (see:  http://usmilitary.about.com/od/afreg/l/blafi362903.htm).

The Army Uniform Regualtion (AFR 670-1), I can't see where it says anywhere in the regualtion where one is allowed to wear the unit patch for previous units assigned or attached to.

Hope this helps!
