Question
Im an Army reservist, diagnosed with ADHD and given adderrall to treat it by private physician. Does the fact that I take adderrall make me medically disqualified to deploy? I know that it is a disqualifying factor to enter the armed forces, but not found anything on what the deal is with deployments overseas. I know it is very difficult to get adderrall in an environment like that because it requires by law monthly monitoring by a psychiatrist. Plus, I dont function w/o my daily dosage. Can you tell me your thoughts? thank you...

Answer
Hi Mark,

Your question is impossible to answer, because there is no "go/no go" listing of what conditions make one ineligible for deployment, and what doesn't.

It's completely up to your unit commander, after receiving advice from your base medical facility. You must report to your unit any chances in your medical condition (such as being prescribed adderral), then it's up to your unit to refer you to your base medical facility for an evaluation.
