Question
If my daughter is forced out of the Marines before her 180 days on an admin separation will she have any rights to medical benifits from the goverment for future problems with her legs/bones if she has any?

Answer
Hi Jim,

Maybe. For many Veteran's Administration (VA) veteran's benefits, one must have a certain amount of active duty military service.

However, for medical benefits, this is not the case, if the VA determines that the medical condition is a direct result of military service.

She would have to be medically examined at a VA medical facility, and her military medical records would be examined, but if the VA determined the medical condition was a direct result of her military service (and not a pre-existing condition), she would be eligible for continued medical care through VA medical facilities, and/or monthly disability compensation. Details can be found on the VA Website at: http://www.va.gov

I highly recommend, if she is processed for discharge, that she request a photo-copy of her military medical records (those things sometimes have a habit of getting lost).

Hope this helps!
