Question
I have been looking at joining the reserves, but I'm worried that I'm too old, now 37. I'm most interested in the USAF or the Coast Guard. Can I still get in?

thanks

Answer
Hi Aaron,

Assuming you have no prior military service, you're too old for the Air Force and Coast Guard Reserves.

Their maximum age for the Air Force Reserves is 34, and for the Coast Guard Reserves is 27.

However, the maximum non-prior service enlistment age for the active duty Army and Army reserves is 39. The maximum enlistment age for the Naval Reserves is also 39.

For details, see my article at: http://usmilitary.about.com/od/joiningthemilitary/a/enlstandards.htm

Hope this helps!
