Question
I'm am going to join the Army and I want a position where I can fight, provide security, stand gaurd somewhere, or just sit behind the 50 on a Hummer.

I'm not saying I want to join just because I want to hold a gun, I really am going to make the military my career, but I don't want a boring job.

I was just wondering if you knew the names of some positions I could apply for, or ones you think I would be interested in based on what I've told you. Thank you.

Answer
Hi John,

Gads, I had these kinds of questions. The truth of the matter is that everyone is an individual, and there is no way for me to advise someone on what Military job might be good for them.

A job that you might find "boring," is a job that someone else may find "interesting."

While I might find a specific job exciting, you might do the same job and spend your time yawning. Everybody is different, and I don't know you. How in the World am I supposed to advise you on an Army job (or jobs) that you may find "not boring?"

Additionally, I don't know your qualifications (ASVAB Scores, medical examination results, vision, color vision, security clearance eligibility, etc., ad infidium), which are different for every Army enlisted job.

My best advice is to check out the Army Enlisted Job Descriptions I have on my site at: http://usmilitary.about.com/od/enlistedjobs/a/arjobs.htm).

If you're interested in jobs that involve direct combat and/or security, check out the jobs under Fields 11, 13, 18, 19, or 31.

Hope this helps!
