Question
QUESTION: Hi Ms. Bedell im currently an E-3 in the Navy and have served almost two of my four year enlistment and was wondering if you knew any information about blue to green, such as the amount of time you have to have left or how to transition. any help would be appreciated. thank you for your time. Adam Gartner

ANSWER: Dear Adam --

You can do the Blue to Green program any time as long as you are still on duty.  If the Army requires more time, they will extend your enlistment obligation during the transition.  Your enlistment paperwork will include the details of any service obligation extension, so please read them very closely before signing them.

To learn more about the Blue to Green program, please review the information at this website: http://www.goarmy.com/btg/

There you will find a form you can fill out.  Once you have sent the form, you will begin a dialog about using the Blue to Green program, and get a chance to decide if it makes sense for you.

Good luck to you.  Please write back if other questions arise during your negotiations or transition.

QUESTION: Ms. Bedell i went and talked to a recruiter and he told me i would i have to wait 6 months before my EAOS date and i was wondering what forms or what i would need to do to get this started, i saw i needed a dd form 368 but curious what else needs to be done. Thank you. AMAN Gartner, Adam W.

Answer
Dear Adam --

The requirement that you wait until six months out from your estimated termination of service date means that they plan to re-enlist you into the Army rather than use the Blue to Green transfer option.

This can make the transfer easier, because the Navy or the Air Force does not have to agree to release you.  However, you should be certain that you do not lose recruitment bonuses, rank or training guarantees by delaying your application for transfer.  Please go back to the www.goarmy.com website and search for the Blue to Green web page.  Read through that information, and download the application form.  The version I saw, had all the requirements as a back page.  If you follow the instructions you will be able to begin the process.

If you cannot find all the information you need, please write back.  Good luck to you.
