Question
I recently signed up for the coast guard, took my asvab, and physical and filled out all the paper work. My  recruiter though, wasn't the best, and left out alot of info that I needed. So when the day came for me to go to bootcamp, i find out that i don't make weight. After a few weeks, Im finally able to get another recruiter, make weight, and get another date, and then they tell me they are no longer acceoting G.E.D ( I was taking coller classes, but had to drop them to join) After I go through the chain of command and see if I can get a waiver, im told that thats possibly not going to happen. Is there anything else I can do ,since I started this porcess before the restriction changed? I haven't herd from my recruiter. amd right now Im not able to get those college creidts that would be needed in order to join.

Answer
Hi Silvio,

I'm afraid that the only thing you can do is to keep working to get those college credits.

The Coast Guard accepts fewer than 1 percent of all enlistees each year with a GED.

In other words, the possibility of getting a waiver is about the same as the possibility of being struck by lightening.

In order to be considered on the same level as a high school diploma-holder, you must have at least 15 college credits.

Hope this helps!
