QuestionI was wondering if there is ever a way to become a part of the military life after the age of 33? I was married to a marine for almost 8 years. We divorced and I loved the lifestyle. I have been in school and I will graduate soon with a BA in psychology. I would like to enter the military life but everyone I talk to says I am to old. Is this tru? I also have two children that I have full custody of. Any suggestions?
Thank you for your time.

AnswerDear Stacy --
The best thing to do is see a recruiter. Once upon a time you could not become an officer, if you were older than 25. That has changed. You can enlist for initial service up to age 35. With your degree, you might even be eligible for Officer Candidate School.
As a single parent, you will have to make guardianship arrangements for your children to ensure they will be cared for if you deploy. You cannot get an exception to this rule. All military members are subject to deployment and unaccompanied tours in remote locations. The military makes no exception for single Moms.
Best of luck to you!
