i am getting a discharge from the national guard but they are telling me i have to fill out a family care plan packet. this doesn't make since to have to fill that out. could you explain to me what all i have to fill out to get a disharge and what i shouldn't fill out. I'm getting a discharge because i'm pregnant. please help me.

Answer
Hi Cynthia,

Your unit is confused. If you are being discharge for pregnancy, you don't have to compelte a family care plan.

The Family Care Plan is designed for you to provide care for your child in the event that you deploy. See my article at: http://usmilitary.about.com/cs/genfamily/a/familycare.htm

Even if you had elected to stay in the Guard, instead of discharge, you would not be required to submit a family care plan until 90 days after the birth of the child (see page 2 of the article above).

For more information about the United State Military, feel free to visit my U.S. Military Information Site at: http://usmilitary.about.com Hope this helps!
