Question
Can you give me a dsn number that will allow me to call home to my wife because I can not find one that will allow me to make long distance calls and there is no base where my wife stays she lives in Detroit, MI I am currently deployed in Japan I just need a dsn number that will connect me to my family phone

Answer
Hi Jerry,

I'm afraid I can't, and here's why. DSN numbers are phone numbers which allows calls from one military base to another. Except in cases where one is deployed to a combat zone, they are for "offical use only." In other words, they can be used only for official military business.

In short, if you are assigned to, or TDY to Japan, you would not be allowed to use the military phone system to call home, under any regulation that I'm aware of.

Hope this helps!
