Question
Do Navy SEALs, Special Forces, Force Recon recieve advanced hand to hand combat training compared to conventional troops?
if so are they trained in techniques that kill an enemy with their bare hands?

Answer
Hi Charlie,

The answer to your two questions are "yes," and "yes."

All Military Special Ops forces (including SEALS, Army Special Forces, Army Rangers, Marine Corps Force Recon, DELTA, Air Force Pararescue, and Air Force Combat Controllers) go through special "close combat" training, which includes hand-to-hand combat, and close combat training with weapons such as knives.

As for "conventional troops," it depends on the service. All Army recruits receive some close-quarters combat training in basic. The Army Infantry Basic Training teaches a little more than other Army basic training schools.

The Marine Corps probably teaches the most close quarters combat to all Marines in basic, and continues this with training after basic. In fact, the Marine Corps is the only service with their own Martial Arts system, including different level belts.

The Navy, Coast Guard, and Air Force do not have close-order combat training in their basic training programs, but include it, as necessary in some of their job training schools.
