Question
I just tried to enlist in the USMC & was accepted. 3 days before I was to ship out to basic training I was told there was a problem with my contract. by the time it was sorted out I had my 35th birthday & was told I could not attend basic training. The problem was I was 2 points shy to get my program. Now he should have told me that on day one, but he waited 2 months. Now I have done everything I had to including swearing into the delayed entry program. Which allows you 365 days to ship out. according to my falty recrutier he says I can't go. but should'nt I be able to? espcially when this was caused because of him?

Answer
Peter:

Try and talk to the SNCOIC at the recruiting district.  He may or may not be able to help you.  Age is not waiverable, no matter how many days you have in DEP.

Again, talk to someone higher than your recruiter, I'm sure he's just as upset as you are.

Best regards,

Jason

Expertise

Questions relating to US Marine Corps; rank, awards, uniforms, career choices. I can also help people spot and expose fakes (people pretending to be Marines or have awards they didn`t earn). Considering the Marines as a career? Or another branch, like the Air National Guard? Drop me a line. HOWever..know that I am NOT a recruiter. I can offer my expert opinion and advice, but can't (and won't) over rule what a recruiter says, they are the 'on duty' expert.

Experience
