Question
how soon after boot camp to seal challenge enlistees get to take their first leave

Answer
Hi Kip,

The Marines and Coast Guard give 10 days of leave, immediately following graduation from basic training. They're the only services which do this.

The other services allow the first leave, immediately following job training, prior to reassignment to the first duty station.

In other words, if you pass the PST and are accepted to BUDS, you'll get your first leave upon gradution from BUDS, before you report to your first duty station.

If you don't pass the PST, or fail BUDS and are transfered to an "A-School," you'll receive your first leave upon graduation from A-School, before going to your first duty assignment.

If you happen to be in A-School during the Christmas period, students are generally allowed to take 10 (or so) days of leave during this period, as most Military job schools pretty much "close down" during the Christmas New Years period, in order to give the staff a chance to take leave.
