Answer
For the Air Force, there is a physical strength test you take at MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station), when you take your physical. The "strength test" corresponds to qualification for different Air Force enlisted jobs. It consists of lifting a set of weights from waist-high to above your head.

Each Air Force enlisted job has a "strength code" assiged to it. The different strength codes are:

E - No Requirement
F - Less than 40 lbs
G - 40 lbs
H - 50 lbs
J - 60 lbs
K - 70 lbs
L - 80 lbs
M - 90 lbs
N - 100 lbs
P 110 lbs

You can see which codes apply to which Air Force enlisted jobs in my Air Force enlistement job qualification pages at: http://usmilitary.about.com/od/airforceenlistedjobs/a/afjobs.htm.

You also have to pass a physical fitness test in Air Force Basic Training (for any job), which consists of running, push-ups, and sit-ups. Details in my "Surviving Air Force Basic Training" article at: http://usmilitary.about.com/cs/airforcejoin/a/afbmt1.htm.
