Question
you said most of the time you get deployed for 6 months and then back for 9 months.  But operational issues could change that.  

Well as of now in our military's current position, whats the average time a member in the infantry spends deployed an how often do they get deployed.  And does any of this change for someone in the special forces like force recon?

I no this is a little of topic but could you tell me who these military contractors are and were there coming from.  How do these guys get trained or are they trained.

Also don't worry about the response time with the hurricane an all,   its no problem.

  The average time an infantryman spends deployed in an operational unit is 9 months out of the year, total.  There are other smaller unit workup deployments away from the main base that also occur.  That cycle isn't every year, but that is about right for the first 2 years or so.  

  Contractors are people with prior military or police experience, already trained most of the time.

Did a hitch in the Army reserves as an 11B (Infantryman), 3 years. Finished out my career in the Air National Guard as a BioEnvironmental Engineer MOS 4B3X1, did that for a few years. I"ve been collecting and selling Marine Corps and other military uniforms, medals, and field gear since I was 8 years old.
