Question
HI! I have a bf who is a US military and has been serving the military for years now. The government called him  yesterday and telling that he will be assigned in Alabama and Bosina. What i am wondering is that, is it possible that he will be called today and after 2 days he will be leaving for europe? I dont know much about the US military and I am not sure if he is telling the truth because we have a long distance relationship. I dont know if he is only using this reason just to get away from me bec i will be in the US next year just to be with him. But he assure me that he loves me and he will call me once in a while. Is there a way where can I know if he is really assigned to Alabama and bosini? I trust him but lately he has changed so i have this doubt that he is only using his work to get away from me. Thanks and i will greatly appreciate your help.

Answer
Yes, depending on the type of unit, a military member could be assigned to a unit in Alabama, but leave on short notice for a short tour in Bosnia.  It's unusual to have such short notice (two days) to deploy to a region where we are routinely reassigning folks, such as Bosnia.  More often short notice deployments are to a new war, a disaster relief mission, or a critical or secret diplomatic mission or embassy rescue.

I hope this information helps.  Write again, if you have new information and would like to discuss it further.

Best of luck to you.
