Question
Hello,
In block #11 compared to block #12 could you please tell me which one is accurate as far as time served.    Since the beginning of my AF career I started donating blood and after retirement I was told in 2000 that I was no longer able to donate.  Because during Desertstorm I was deployed to Spain.  If I was there longer than 6 months the blood center is stating that Spain received their meat from the UK and that in long term may give me mad cow disease.  So on my DD214 in question which block is time served 11 or 12.

Answer
According to the ddform 214 that i have to refrence...Block 11 is for officers only, primarily pertains to specialty.

Block 12 contains the dates and periods of service the DD form 214 covers.
Blocks 12.f. and 12.g, Foreign Service and Sea Service, are for only for the period of time between the dates entered in blocks 12.a. and 12.b

12a is the date you entered service, 12 b is the your separation date. 12 c is the time you served 12 d is any prior service you may have had, If you entered under the delayed entry program that time should show here...

12h is you effective date of you last promotion.

The answer you seek would be in 12 C.

I have spent the past 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, 3 years was assigned as an Enlisted Accessions Recruiter. I have been deployed various times to several locations. If it is a career in the military you are looking for or thinking about I most likely have the answer. I still have contacts with in the recruiting field and if I don't know the answer then I have folks who do where I can find the answer. I am very blunt and straight forward and will make no attempts to BS you. I will give you the best information that I possible can can. If you think that you cant handle the answer that I give you, then don't ask the question...... If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do. If I dont answer right away probably means that I am busy, but have patience, I will get to you.
