Question
i was honorably discharged under chapter 9. my reenlistment code is RE3. Can i still enlist in army national guard?

Answer
Hi Serena,

No way to tell. An RE Code of 3 requires a waiver. There is no way to say, for sure, whether or not such a waiver would be favorably considered. It depends on several individual factors, including your other qualifications (ASVAB Score, etc.,), the exact reason for the original discharge, and whether or not the commander felt those reasons would no longer be a factor, current recruiting requirements (and for the National Guard, that varies from one state to another), etc.

An Army National Guard Recruiter, located in the particular state you wish to join the Army National Guard for, can best give you an estimate of your chances for a waiver, based on your own individual circumstances, and the current recruiting needs of the Army National Guard for that particular state.
