Question
i was discharged from the airforce in basic training for failure to donn the gas mask.  they slapped a claustrophobic sticker on me and sent me home with a seperation code of JFX and a reentry code of 2C.  although my recruiter is willing to try and get me back in i have heard from multiple sources that it isnt even worth the effort because the airforce is too picky and will deny a waiver to reenlist.  is this true? because if it is i dont want to put my recruiter through the trouble of processing me.  hes helped me out enough and i dont want to put him through the trouble.  thanks for your help, John

Answer
Hi John,

Unfortunately, I have to agree with you. As you didn't even graduate from basic training, you're not considered a "re-enlistment," but rather an "enlistment." With a 2C RE-Code, your chances of enlisting into the Air Force are very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very small.

Just to be considered for a (very rare) waiver, you would have to show the Air Force some kind of proof that the original reason for discharge no longer applies. Not just your statement, but documented, verifiable proof. How would you plan to do that?
