Question
I was in the active duty Army from 1999 to 2003. In June of 2003 I was conditionally promoted to SSG while deployed to Iraq. I then ETS'd in OCT 2003. Since they have raised the enlistment age, I am conidering reenlistment. Would I be able to retain my conditional promotion of SSG?

Answer
Hi Steven,

See my article about "Prior Service Enlistments," at: http://usmilitary.about.com/od/joiningthemilitary/a/priorservice.htm and especially see the section about retaining Army rank at:  http://usmilitary.about.com/od/armyjoin/a/psrank.htm

For more information about the United States Military, feel free to visit my military information website at:  http://usmilitary.about.com

Hope this helps!
