Question
If a person is told a vein collapsed, from an injection,  what does that mean and can the vein ever be used again for blood tests etc.   (or might it recover if it rests, etc).  Thanks

Answer
There are many causes of a collapsed vein, such as repeated IV injections, irritating IV medications, a clot in the vein, poor injection technique, etc.
Permanent vein collapse may occur under certain circumstances but usually the collapsed vein will eventually open and circulation will resume.
If you are suffering any discomfort or signs of infection at that site, please see your physician.
