QuestionI am a former Naval Hospital Corpsman/Independant Duty Corpsman and future LVN. Are there any high speed careers in the LVN field. I would like to know if we could work for OSHA or the Minerals Management Service. The MMS monitors the deposits of oil rigs. Can LVN's work in the Environmental, Health and Safety field, because I've always wanted to do that. I just would like to know, what more high speed things can I do;Besides getting more education ex.ADN BSN NP or NA. Sorry young ex-Navy adrenaline junkie.
Answercongratulations on your choice of career, the nursing field is very exciting. Unfortunately I cannot answer your question with much certainty because I do not know what opportunities these areas have for nurses and what their requirements would be. However, since you already know what your passion is it should not be hard to figure some of this out. Contact OSHA and some of the oil rigging companies directly and ask them. If you have not yet started your LVN course I would strongly advise you to skip the course altogether if you can afford to live without an LVN salary for a while, and go straight for an RN degree. The number of doors that will open to you will be infinitely more as an RN than as an LVN. If you cannot afford to wait, then when you finish your course you should immediately enroll in an RN program, best of luck to you in you new endeavors.
