Question
I am a cna and have been for four years. my sister works for a nursing home in Flordia. she is considerd a (MED TECH) however she has never taken a course, but did take a two hr. class have you ever heard of this? If so what are her duties? they want her to preform more duties than Im capable of doing as a cna.

Answer
In some nursing homes in Florida, CNAs are allowed with a short course to give meds, I feel this is a poor practice, since they do not know side effects or proper dosing of medications. I feel the liability to her and to the nursing home is hight. The first time the pharmacy send the wrong dose of medication and she gives it, she is in big trouble with the family, and most nurning homes will not back her.
