Careers: Photography/Matte or glossy

Question
When trying to make a portfolio what finish is most appealing? Also what size? One more. Is it wise to invest in a excellent photo printer or just take it to a store that has a photo kiosk?

Answer
You are going to get all kinds of different answers on this one because matte or glossy is a preference.  I tend to use Epson's Luster paper and have had great results with my personal printer (Epson 2200).  I would avoid all store kiosks unless there is one you really trust.  Try mpix.com for an out lab... I have had great results with them.  Luster paper for me has worked out great...not too much glare but not too flat as well.

Good luck
