Question Hi, my Name is Tara and I'm 18 i am hopefully about to begin college this semester and I'm in the process of registering for my classes i want to branch out into many paths but still keep it all bundled together so far i have chosen for my courses, Creative writing, Journalism, business management, human relations, and of course i want to know everything about photography, can you think of any other courses that i would benefit from taking the reason i chose these is i can't always be assured that photojournalism will pay the rent, so i also have the business management to help me open up my own studio i would like to take the creative writing course because i've already published a book and i really have a passion for writing + i think it would help me develop as a journalist, but if you can think of any other classes i should or NEED to take please let me know.
Answer Photo-journalism is a growing field of photography, however if you are in a small town, a reporter may be given a camera and told to bring back a picture that will illuminate story you are working for. But in the larger cities, there is more money to allow two people to work on the same story, one for pictures, the other for the story.
In addition to the courses listed above I would include as many business courses as possible. That way if you decide to go on your own you would have the business expertise to open up your own studio. Perhaps if you've published a book already you can think of pictures to include in a future book.
Good luck, if I can help further, please ask through this medium.
