QuestionHi John,
I appreciate the idea of your customers having recession proof jobs, but when their income is fixed and gas, groceries and other things are rising in price, why don't you see a decrease in your bookings?
AnswerHello Amy,
While their incomes may remain basically the same, most of those recession proof jobs are also "high pay" jobs as well. Doctors, nurses, massage therapists, sports medicine, physical therapists, veterinarians, pharmacists and others. They sometimes have financial help with the wedding day expenses from their professionally employed parents. But I'm seeing more and more brides and grooms with college and professional careers paying for their own weddings. These brides & grooms appreciate professional wedding photography and look forward to having a beautiful wedding photography package to share with their families and their own children as the years go by. If they were to have to sacrifice on some other things, they would for the sake of having a wedding album which would become a family heirloom for generations to come.
In other words, while wedding photography is a luxury, it is a service and product which has very great personal meaning to the lives of the people who pay for it. There are many people in high pay jobs which are sometimes also recession proof jobs. They are willing to pay for the luxury of pro wedding photography for how it will enrich the quality of their lives for many years.
