Question
Why are my dogs eyes blue in photos instead of red, as a response to the camera
flash? This is the case with both of my puppies (14 weeks).
-Matthew

Answer
Hi Matthew,

Typically in humans the light will make red-eye from our blood vessels.  Animals have what's called a tapedum, at the back of the eye that is a reflective mirror so they can see better in dim light situations, or at night.  Usually, it will be a yellow green cast, but in young pups, it can be a blue-violet.  It also depends on the breed of animal but I bet as your dogs get older, it will turn a yellow - green hue!

Hope this helps. Good luck with the puppies.
