Better Business Bureau.

Education/Credentials
Going to photography seminars and reading all the wedding photography books I can find then applying the techniques and new styles I've learned with each wedding. You always need to grow and learn to keep up in this field. With each new wedding you photograph, you must challenge yourself to do better work than your previous wedding. You must always have the goal of making the wedding photographs for a bride & groom be the best photographs they have seen of any wedding.

Careers: Photography - wedding photography marketing

Expert: John Wilson - 6/9/2009

Question
Good morning, I LOVE photographing people and did various part-time courses
in photography.  I am struggling though with getting some creative, new ideas
to market myself as I would love to quit my teaching career and do wedding and
portraiture full time.
can you perhaps help me with a few ideas?

Answer
Hi Talita,

Thank you for your photography career marketing questions.

Generally the most cost-effective way for portrait/wedding photographers to market themselves is by having a great website and exchanging website links with other wedding vendors. Some photographers also leave sample wedding albums and framed portrait work at the most popular wedding venues. You could also see about leaving samples of your work at tourist attractions or popular destination wedding locations if you happen to be near such places or are willing to travel.

If your portrait and wedding work is as good as your competitors or even better and priced fairly, you will get plenty of work.

These are just a few ideas and probably some of the things you have already been doing. I just don't know enough specifics about your particular market to provide you with a more comprehensive marketing plan or campaign.

Hope some ideas here helps.  Thanks again for your questions.
