Question
When publishers commission coffee table books featuring photography, how are the contracts usually structured and what would be a typical commission fee range be (very approximate!) for a book with around 100 photos?

Answer
Mary,

It depends on the publisher and the type of book, usually. It's a joke in the photography business that you don't make any money on photo books, but it is great promotion.  I have asked a friend in publishing and will get back to you with an answer shortly.

Thanks.

OK, got an answer - it varies but usually a flat fee - could be around 15-20K depending on the content- I am told.  Hope this helps..
