Question
I am 43 years old and looking to change careers.
I have always been interested in photography,
but do not know how get started at my age. As far as
education, which schools, what type of degree, etc. I live in Maryland. Do you have any suggestions on education? I do not want quicky
diploma, I looking to enter this change in a
serious fashion.
Thanks
Telly K.

Answer
You live in an area wih a lot of possibilities for higher education. I would go to the nearest school and ask their counselor for help. Bear in mind that many are called to photographic craft but few can weather the period of settling out. Of 10 people that try this field, maybe one will succeed, the rest will fail within a short time; or within the first 2 years. But the more edujcation you can get the better you'll be. Wish I would help more, but am accessing my account on a public computer because my line is down.
When it comes back up I'll write more.

Expertise

I have been a professional photographer for 35 years. Wedding, portraits, passports, copies, groups pix, reunions, etc. Specialty in photography of large groups. I also have worked in newspaper photography for most of my photographic years. I have built and maintained a b/w darkroom, and a color darkroom.

Experience

I have been a professional photographer for 35 years. I am transitioning to digital photography so I might be able to help in that field. I'm retired now but am still able to be helpful in the field. I have built a b/w, color darkroom, worked in a color lab, worked in the newspaper field both in darkroom and as a shooter.
