Question
What does it take to earn the right to put the copyright symbol on your photos?  Are you required to obtain a copyright license of some sort?  I would really like to copyright my stuff so clients can't easily reproduce the work.

Answer
Every photographer is protected by the copyright laws against people wanting to copy your work. That is why in the early days of photography, they used a print activated by light and not fixed. The more times you viewed the picture, would cause it to get darker, darker until finally the image was unusable.
I would suggest that you consult the library for the exact procedure. In general, you contact the copyright office, send in the pix, pay the fee and you are covered. It is a fee each time you submit so you should consider it to be a batch process involving many pix.
Thanks for asking. If I can help further, let me know.

I have been a professional photographer for 35 years. I am transitioning to digital photography so I might be able to help in that field. I'm retired now but am still able to be helpful in the field.
