Question
Hi Dan,
I am currently writing a screenplay and was wondering if I could ask you a question regarding the career of a photographer so as to ensure accuracy. You see, one of my main characters is a photographer. I want her job to take her to many different cities, basically to take pictures of famous landmarks. Would she be considered a freelance photographer? If not, what would the official title be? Thank you for your time and assistance.
                   Sincerely,
                             Rico

Answer
She would be a travel photographer. If she were employed by someone to do this then she would be an employee of National Geographic or others. Chances are that she would be free-lancing. This would give her the greatest latitude in choosing where to go, ie, which assignment to take that would interest her the most. She could be doing this in order to compile a coffee-table book. This is a volume of pictures one would put on the coffee-table for guests to pick up and read. There would be more pix than text in this type of book. Highly speculative, she would be worrying about making ends meet until she found a publisher. I wouldn't worry about the title. Just call her a photographer.
Good luck, let me know how it turns out.
Don
