AnswerPhotography is a unique business. The cameras are so technically perfect that it is almost impossible not to get a decent exposure, which only leaves the shooter with the responsibility of choosing the viewpoint with the photographic eyes you've developed over the years. I do recommend that you get as much education as you can, both in the field of photography but also in the field of business. There are many schools out there that will train you in photography, ranging from the short 7-14 day intensive school, to a 4 year college. You will find schools in Journalism and photography, you will find schools just in photography. You can find very expensive schools and the in-home correspondence schools. As to salary, it will vary according to your expertise, interests, and training. You might decide to start your own studio, or be a part of an established studio, you may decide that you want to travel and produce photos for display in the home. You might want to publish your best in coffeetable books.
I wish you the best of luck, remember, that the most training you can get, the better you will succeed in your lifework. Focus on achieving your goals, don't be satisfied with just getting by, be the best you can be at what you are doing.
If I've failed to answer your questions, you might try checking through the archives of past questions I've answered. I think you'll find even more answers there.
Good Luck,
Don
