Question
Hello Don,

I have been contacted by a large Las Vegas, Nevada advertising/promotions
firm to shoot a series of photos in my home town of Albuquerque, NM of a
vintage car show that one of their client casinos is sponsoring.

They gave me a list of about 15 specifics shots they want. They told me to
be at the show for a specific 3 hour period the evening of the event. They
will do all of the post production on the photos themselves.  They just want
me to burn the .jpgs to a CD and overnight it to them.

I have only done photo work for individuals prior to this.

Do you have any figures on what the standard rates or for such an
assignment?

Thanks so much for your assistance.

Best,

Steve Snowden

Answer
They should have given you some guidelines as to what to take pix of which they did, I would charge your rates as if they were individuals requesting photos. They have asked for a specific block of time so I would include this time in your bill. I would also include your mileage to and from the event. Since this is your first time, you can charge much of what you do to a learning experience and the exposure you'd get out of the assignment.I would specify that they give you a credit line under the pix they publish. I would include the credit line on the disc you submit. I wish I could be more specific. Prices on this kind of photography vary according to exposure, if local, regional or nationwide. Good luck to you, may the shooting gods smile on you and grant you good pix. If I can help further, let me know.
