Careers: Police/Marijuana use

Question
I have used marijuana, actually quite excessively in the past. I have heard that
police departments don't usually care as long as it was only once or twice.
Because of my excessive use, I'm wondering if I will be able to get a job with a
police department after I graduate college, or will it be extremely difficult
and should I change my major?

Answer
Brittany,

A lot depends on your age at the time, how long it's been and your attitude now about it. It's difficult to answer not knowing the circumstances and all. As for changing your major goes, It's just not something I can answer here. If I can be of more help I'll try. Sorry for the almost non answer but I don't  want to be unfair to you by trying to answer such an important question here in the forum.
