AnswerHello DayQwan, I will be glad to help you.
First of all the requirement in my agency is to have a 2 year degree to get hired. Now when it comes to the SWAT Team one must have a few years on the department and then apply for the team. Once you apply then you must go through a very rigorous tryout that not all can make. Then there is a waiting list for qualified applicants and it takes sometimes a few years for a spot to open.
Salary doesnt change for SWAT members. My agency ranges from about 44,000 to 60,000 for street cops.
As for the job market, it is extremely tough every where. Unfortunately, most agencies are in a hold or freeze patern until the economy stabilizes.
I am in South Florida and it is hot and humid 10 months a year!!
Advacement is self initiated. After you have been on the job 5 years you can begin the promotional process.
SWAT responsibilities vary depending on your expertise. They range from sniper to negotiator to entry team.
Job openings vary from state to state. Search Law Enforcement opportunities in google.
Benefits are extremely important. I have good medical care, retirement options and good advance outlook for retirement.
Hope this fulfills your request.
Good Luck
Paul
