Question
hi, i'm jeremy krieg. i have been thinking about trying to become an officer, but i'm afraid that my record will hold me back. i have no felony's but i do have a few misdemeanor. they are as fallowed.  04' possession of less than 15g of pot.drug paraphernalia. 07' possession of greater 15g of pot, and dwelling in a house with controlled substance. but what got me thinking about being an officer, is that the arresting officer has helped me out and helped me clean up my life, and it kinda feels like that its what i should do. i was young and dumb. lol. but yeah i was wondering if those charges will hold me back from being an officer. i will appreciate anything.

thanks,
Jeremy A. Krieg

Answer
Jeremy,

A lot would depend on your age when these arrests happened. A misdemeanor may not automatically disqualify you but with those arrest happening fairly recent it may hurt your chances. But if being a Police Officer is something you truly want to do then I would go for it. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
