HI,First i want to say thank you for your service.Ok,Im 35 yrs of age married for 13 awesome years with two daughters two sons ages 12,10,8,2.I have always wanted to be a trooper since i was a boy about the age of 7,Mm wife has not wanted me to be a trooper until about two days ago,She said the she has given this decision to God and am ok with me going forward with this career.Is there something im not seeing about this job that would change my mind to move forward?Im open to anything you tell me.I guess i want this in the worst way but am able to let go if its going to be to much trouble for my family.Just a little note...I do drive tractor trailer over the road and am gone from home from time to time.Again thanks for taking the time to answer.

William, there are some basics when it comes to yes or no for a law enforcement career...you have answered one of them.  A guy makes a mistake if he is married and does not include his wife in the decision process...you have done that.  The second thing is what you bring to the idea.  You are a long haul trucker and you would have to be street savvy to do what you do.  If you have a clear record and can communicate well, you would be a cinch for a trooper career.  Give it a shot. I can tell you that it was the best decision I made in life.  A big plus waits for you at the end.  Safety retirements are among the best.  Good luck.
