Question
Hey,
my question is what is a swat agent?

Answer
Hello James,
"SWAT" stands for: special weapons and tactics. It is an assignment, in a law enforcement agency.
In a city, county or state agency, those assigned to such a unit would be sometimes referred to as a SWAT-Officer. Many federal agencies also have special operations units, with similar duties. These federal officers are usually referred to as agents.
Either way, it is a difference with little distinction.
So, remember, it is a specialized assignment, which is a subdivision of a larger agency organization. The skill sets are specific, and apply to emergency situations, where expertise is required, of a "special" nature.
Hope this is helpful.
Regards,
loren
