Question
hi im still in middle school, but i want to know what it will take to be a animal
police officer in Houston. I have been watching their hour long shows that they
show on animal planet, and i want to help all the animals in pain like that it is so
not fair. so my question is what college degrees i need to join and help out

Answer
Christine:

I'm guessing you are looking for this:

"Cruelty Investigator (ONLY QUALIFIED APPLICANTS APPLY PLEASE)
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Previous training and work experience in cruelty investigations or animal control. Will accept previous training and work experience in law enforcement and/or criminal justice only if combined with previous animal related work experience. Must have ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited protocol exists; strong mathematical ability. Requires working flexible hours including weekends and nights. Valid Texas drivers license required. Job responsibilities include: Investigate potential violations of animal cruelty laws; issue written warnings; write detailed daily reports and prepare records; appear in court to submit documents, evidence and case summaries; respond to injured animal reports in rescue vehicle; transport/rescue large and small animals (domestic and wildlife). Resumes can be e-mailed to SPCA Jobs"

You can go to the SPCA website, here:
http://hspca.convio.net/site/PageNavigator/about_us_employment

So, it looks to me that you would need both some type of animal related work experience (volunteering there would probably qualify for that if you did it long enough, or a degree of some sort in a related field) in addition to having law enforcement experience.  I'd go to the site and ask for more information from them directly and they will get you started.

Best regards,
Jason
