Question
William, I am interested in becoming a law enforcement officer in North
Carolina, but I have 3 simple misdemeanor bad check charges.  Would that keep
me from becoming an officer?

Thanks for the question.

It's possible, but check with the North Carolina State Attorney General Office on what the hiring requirements are in North Carolina.

A lot of agencies understand writing a couple of bad checks, but not to the point of actually being charged with a misdemeanor. Good background investigations look at things like credit history and financial status to determine stability and potential for graft, bribery, gratuities, and etc.
