Question
Hi, I'm thirteen and I really want to be an a S.W.A.T team. Is there any way in which teenagers could get a taste of the actioin?

Answer
Hello Mary,
The short answer to your question, is NO.
I know of no such program, where youth can "get a taste" of SWAT type activity.
The discipline, training, fitness and regimentation to "TEAM" that is a structure of SWAT is probably more aligned with military boot camp, and basic infantry tactics than about anything else.
There used to be a program in the USMC called the "Devil pups", that enjoyed many of the experiences you are interested in, but I don't know if they are still doing that. You'll need to inquire at a Marine Corps recruiter to find that out.
There are also youth boot-camps, but they tend to be oriented to troubled youth.
You need to understand, that SWAT units are very busy, if not on calls assigned, it will be ongoing training.
Plus, there is a HUGE liability concern, that every agency has to entertain.
But, you might be interested in viewing several of my past postings, on suggestions for youth to prepare for an adult career in LE, including SWAT assignments.
Sorry, that's the best I can offer you.
Good Luck,
loren
