ok i just turned 13. but i have had the dream to be a police officer after i got my stomach disease because i couldn't go to the army. i want to know what it takes to be a police officer? i want to be someone that is out of the office. i also want to know how much school time it takes to get a degree for being a police officer? yes i know i'm very young but i want to learn about this at a yearly age so that i'm prepared. so as soon as you can get back to me i will listen just send me a e-mail. i want you not to think of me as young think as me as a adult. thanks for your time! i appreciate it very much.

Hi Shelby,

   Depending on where you live, many Police and Sheriff's Departments have explorers. These are people around your age that want to be Police Officers. Some Departments let them ride along even. I suggest you contact your local Department to see if they offer this program. If you would like me to look into it for you let me know what city and state you are in and I will do some research on this.

   As for schooling a lot depends again on what State and City you are in. Most University's offer a two your or four year degree in Criminal Justice. Many Departments give a civil service exam to become a Police Officer. Again that depends on where you live. My suggestion is keep doing good in School, don't hang with the wrong crowd and stay far away from any type of drugs.
