Question
To Mr. Payne, I am currently living in greenville s.c . I am looking for a career in Humane law enforcement, but I really do not know the first steps to any training of this field. I have a clean criminal background on my record, I was hoping that you maybe would have a general idea to go about this sort of training. If you can help me it would greatly be appreciated, and also if possible is there a way of training near my area of residence. Thanks for your time and patience. Sincerely Bryan Wright

In South Carolina you will need to be hired by a law enforcement agency and graduate from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy to become a Class 1 Certified Police Officer.
Some alternatives are to participate in a Reserve Police Officer course, which are offered throughout the state, and sponsored by several Technical Colleges as well as law enforcement agencies.
I am not really sure how many Humane Associations or Animal Control agencies are tied to law enforcement here in South Carolina. I do know of one and it is the Beaufort County Animal Control. They are deputies through the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office, and their full-time duties are related to all animal control.
I am going to refer you to Tony Lytton, she is the Director of the Beaufort County Animal Control and a full-time Deputy Sheriff (843-846-3904. She is a great resource for information concerning your career choice.
