Question
I recently Applied at Broward county Sheriffs Dept. I haven't heard from them. My real question I'm diabetic and my father and grandfather think the I'm blessed with this disease, will any department let me patrol on the street. If it helps any my  diabetes is under control and I'm on the insulin pump. I had did one year of security services and they had no problem with  the disease. To be completely honest the security team had me a the lone midnight officer at a 10 million dollar mall. I don't see in my eyes that my disease and a problem, But will the department?

The Broward County Sheriffs' Office! My old department! Good for you they are a great department to work for.

If your Diabetes is under control, you should have absolutely no problems being a Deputy for BSO. You should not be turned down just because of that so good luck!!! I think if you get on BSO you will find they are a fantastic department full of fine and caring Deputies and Civilian support personnel.

I am a 30+ year veteran police officer, I am currently the Police Academy Commander of an Academy in North FLorida. I have been training police officers since 1993 and have trained them in all aspects of law enforcement, including firearms, Driving and legal subjects including patrol techniques and others and training all over the world. I have trained over 5000 officers worldwide in the last 16 years of training.
