Question
Sir, I have just gotten out of the Navy after a great 8 years and really want to go into law enforcement. I am 32 years old and have a family, I was hopping to find a location close by in Bay County, Fl. that would hire me on as I went to school. I am feeling like I am getting to old to start a new career as it is and really want to get going as soon as possible. I am not that picky right now as to what field I go into, as long as they will pay me while I go through the training and I come out certified.  I would rather not go the Fl. Trooper route but I have looked into it. Do you have any suggestions?

Answer
KEvin,

If I'm following you correctly you're looking to get hired on a Police Department and have them pay you while you are in the academy.

I don't know how Florida works but in NJ that is how it works. You are hired, become an employee and are paid while in the Police Academy. I would imagine Florida works much the same way.

Good Luck
