Question
HI I'M BRYAN, AN 20 YEAR OLD SECURITY GUARD THAT IS INTERESTED IN ONE DAY BECOMING A POLICE OFFICER.I HAVE LOOKED AT MANY SITES TRYING TO FIND OUT IF MY PETTY THEFT CHARGE FROM TWO YEARS AGO WILL IN ANY WAY DISQUALIFY ME UNDER SOME KIND OF BAD   MORAL ACTION,DESPITE IT BEING ADJUDICATION WITHHELD.IF THERE ARE ANY PERSONS OR PERSON HOW KNOWS IF AN PETTY THEFT IS OF BAD MORAL CRIME IN MAY OR MANY NOT DISQUALIFY PLEASE LET KNOW WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT IT. THINK YOU.

Answer
Bryan,

Thanks for the question.

In South Carolina, if you have a conviction for a theft, you will not be eligible for hire. It's considered a crime of Moral Turpitude. However, if you have not been convicted you can still be eligible.

You need to take care of the arrest record. What does the withheld mean, are they holding it over your head for a certain amount of time to past??????

Any Pre-trial Intervention take place?

Have and attorney check on getting your arrest record expunged.

Good luck and best wishes!
