Question
I WAS JUST WONDERING IF MY PAST CAN STOP ME FROM BEING A POLICE OFFICER. I WAS ARRESTED THREE TIMES BUT NEVER BEEN CONVICTED OF ANYTHING CAN THAT PREVENT ME FROM COMPLETING MY GOALS AND DREAMS AS A POLICE OFFICER?

Answer
Hello Michael,
Your best bet, is to contact a human resource person at the agency you are interested in, and inquire about disqualifying issues.
Even though you say you have not been convicted of an offense, a recruiter may be interested in the type of offenses you were charged with, pattern of prior behavior, and associated information relative to those matters.
The threshold for an arrest, is "probable cause", which is beyond that of mere suspicion.
If these matters were about basic honesty issues, that pose a problem for you. If they are something like domestic violence, that could cause you a problem, and they are involved with disorderly conduct, or under the influence type issues, that may cause you problems.
Character, honesty, maturity are all qualities desirable in becoming an officer. Judgement is a huge attribute to be entertained.
You'll have to explain those charges as they relate to these attributes I've listed.
Any doubt what ever, the personnel folks will decide in favor of the agency...as it should be.
So, you'll need to speak to the recruiters at your agency of choice, and be able to discuss those behavioral issues to their understanding and satisfaction.
Good Luck,
loren
