Question
hi my fiance is going to a police academy in Florida and is wanting to move to Alabama after he gets his state certification. His daughter lives in Alabama and he wants to be closer to her. We have called some of the local police departments and they say he only has to take a two week cross over and then he will be set. On the other hand there are people telling him that he will have to go through another entire academy again. I would like to know what you think would be the best route stay down in Florida and transfer in two years or try and get the job that he really wants even if he has to go through the academy again? Also what is the requirements of a police officer in Alabama?

Answer
Hello Mary,

In my opinion he should try and get the job he really wants. I can not speak of the rules and regulations for other States but where I'm from he would have to go through the academy all over again, and no one wants to go through the academy twice.

As far as rhe requirements of becoming a Police Officer in Alabama, I do not have any idea. You would be best to contact some Police Departments in Alabama and inquire from them the requirements.

Good Luck.
