Question
hello, my name is brian and i live in california. i want to become a detective and i know its not going to be easy. i've got some advices from other experts but i wanted to ask you about the exploring program. i read this from a reply you gave to another person and i've contacted the program but they couldn't transfer me to the right person. thank you for your time reading this. i appreciate it

Answer
Hi Brian,

The Explorer Program is part of the Boy Scouts but a lot different. They have post at the local police departments and you have weekly or monthly meetings, you go through law enforcement training, you wear a uniform and much more. You get to ride with the police officer and help out at special events. Its a great program for young people interested in being in law enforcement.

You also get the chance to have a police department see you before you are old enough to be hired and they may be more incline to hire you. Also there are scholarships available through the Explorer program.

The best way to get hold of the person you need to is contact your local police or sheriff's office and see if they have a Explorer post. Many do these days, and if they don't check with the next closest one. Most larger departments do have them.

Hope this helps. Did you contact your local office from the website?  http://www.learning-for-life.org/exploring/lawenforcement/index.html

Be well and safe...
